JVC Introduces Digital Camcorder with 1.3-Inch Hard Disk Drive

JVC is the first to introduce a new form factor 1.3-inch hard disk drive for consumer electronics applications. The capacity offering is 30GB. According to JVC, this small form factor drive allows JVC to integrate a large 1/2.5" CCD and its accompanying large optical lens section, without getting bulky; maintaining a small body and offering a large capacity. JVC also offers several models of hybrid digital camcorders with 1.8-inch form factor hard disk drives with capacities up to 60GB along with alternative storage consisting of micro SD card flash storage.

Samsung Launches New Flash Based Digital Camcorders

The VP-HMX10C, VP-MX10A and VP-DX10 are designed for easy use, high performance and have compact designs. The VP-HMX10C, is the compact high definition (HD) camcorder. It records to 8 GB of internal flash memory (2HRs recording), working in H. 264 at 720p or SD/SDHC/MMC+ cards extending recording time. The VP—MX10A records to 4GB of internal flash memory with SD/SDHC/MMC+ cards as an additional option. The VP-DX10 is a hybrid DVD-flash memory camcorder, combining 4 GB (1 hour recording) internal capacity. Availability is planned for the third quarter of 2007.

Apple’s iPhone is now available

Apple's long awaited iPhone is now available to consumers. The iPhone, will operate exclusively on AT&T Inc.'s wireless network, and will be available in a 4 GB model costing $499 or an 8 GB model costing $599. Earlier this month, Apple upgraded the battery performance and changed its screen from plastic to optical-quality glass. According to Apple, the iPhone's battery will now enable eight hours of talk time, up from the five-hour-long battery life that was originally estimated for the handset. The phone will be capable of six hours of Internet use, seven hours of video playback or 24 hours of audio playback. In addition, the iPhone will feature up to 250 hours—more than 10 days—of standby time. The entire top surface of iPhone, including its 3.5-inch display, has been upgraded from plastic to optical-quality glass to make it more scratch resistant and optically clear.
